Avoiding Alzheimer’s


An article in the NYT today addresses new research for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. It stresses the search for a new drugs for dementia. But we already know how to avert the dreaded disease which does not involve drugs. In David Perlmutter’s book "Grain Brain he has very clearly explained how diet changes can prevent this ailment. He points out that there is a strong correlation between Diabetes II and Alzheimer’s. So by changing one’s diet one can avoid both diseases. Inflammation is the key and it is caused by too much sugar and refined carbohydrates in the diet. One should eat more fats and a moderate amount of protein instead. And don’t worry about your cholesterol level. Every cell in our body including those in the brain need cholesterol, from healthy fat and unadulterated meat and fish.
