Idling Vehicles Revisited

by

A posting on the Hill’s Blog Briefing Room includes a letter from Chuck Grassley about parked idling government cars.  He is outraged.

I first became outraged about idling buses and trucks in 2005.  New York State’s Dept. of Environmental Conservation has a regulation, Subpart 217-3 that prohibits the idling of buses and truck for more than 5 minutes. I believe that as a result of my campaign bus layover sites now have signs informing the drivers that there will be a $2000 fine for idling the bus.

Maybe there’s some way to encourage Grassley to organize a citizen’s campaign to shut off all those idling engines?
