A coach passenger went into first class cabin before we took off and tried to buy a seat up front for $100 from a single Mexican traveler. He said it was for his wife. The person he approached asked if the wife was ill. At this point the cabin crew noticed the transaction and did not let it proceed. The coach passenger took his coach seat grudgingly near me and was never approached by a woman. As we were getting off at the end of the flight I asked him about his wife. He shrugged me off. There was no wife on board.
I wonder how many times he had succeeded with this scam in the past?
